Project Education

The Schools

Singing Gorilla Projects (SGP) are supporting seven primary and two secondary schools in the Nteko and Kisoro area. Supporting educational initiatives is a cornerstone of SGP. Ensuring children stay at school for longer and achieve better results will improve the welfare of communities and enrich the lives of individuals. Special attention is paid to ensuring girls stay in education beyond primary school as well supporting those children who have for one reason or another fallen out of the educational system early.

School support and child sponsorship

SGP funds children to stay in education. It is really important for children to stay in education for as long as possible to provide themselves with the best opportunities and choices in their lives. This can take the form of supporting a child at one of the private schools or providing more general funding and support for children, teaching staff and building school infrastructure of government schools.

Singing Gorilla Projects support a computer lab at the Bright Future School in Nkuringo.

Classrooms, Libraries and Latrines

Further away from Nkuringo and Rubuguri there are many smaller villages with schools that are being supported. SGP funds class room constructions, library fit outs, latrines and changing rooms for girls. The schools in the villages of Suma, Murore, Nombe, Bicocora, Akengayo, Mwumba, Rushabarara, Rutooma, and Iryavumba have all had support from SGP.

Empower Her

Empower Her is a project to provide girls aged 15 - 20 who have had their education interrupted by teenage pregnancy to develop skills to support themselves.
