Recently, Chris Read, Founder of Singing Gorilla Projects, sat down with Shafiq Sekanda, the Resident District Commissioner of the Kisoro District in Uganda.
The Kisoro District borders DRC and Rwanda and is an area of heightened military, refugee and disease activity. As RDC, Shafiq is the president’s representative in the area and is responsible for security and the general well being of the district. Today, Shafiq has to deal with Congolese refugees, M23 rebels operating between Uganda and DRC, troublesome relations with Rwanda and the respective border crossings, Ebola, Covid, Typhoid, Malaria et al.

Jun 2022 - Pius recovers from motor accident
Pius Rwomushana, the Singing Gorilla Projects manager of Education projects is recovering in Mutolore Hospital in Kisoro after breaking his leg in a motor accident. In the picture the students from St Andrews pay him a visit to wish him well.
May 2022 - The Solar Panels Project
It gets dark every day at 6pm. When the kids return from school the only light from paraffin lights. SGP are installing solar panels to power lights, which will enable the children to continue to do their homework after dark.
